We are an association created recently (Math 1st 2016) , formed by people who have been in Greece as volunteers or are very sensitized to the issue of aid to refugees .
The Himaya Association, in Arabic “Protect ” is created after a journey from Maria Rosa Peñarroya to Greece as an independent voluntary. She returned with the idea of bringing families from the streets or the refugee camps and provide decent housing where they can wait while the processing of asylum or family reunification is resolved.
After returning and getting the rent for the first apartment, she came into contact with other volunteers (Angie Carabassa and Sonia Bocharán), managing to consolidate the association as such and beginning to develop a long term working plan, a strategy to raise awareness on the subject and means for resource tracking .
